Dr. Mathias (Matt) Plass, is an Assistant Professor of Cybersecurity and Information Technology with Lewis University where he has been since 2016. He received his DSc in Cybersecurity from Capitol Technology University in 2015, an MS in Information Assurance from the University of Maryland Global Campus in 2012, an MS in Computer Information Systems from the University of Phoenix in 2003, and a BS degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. His research interests include critical infrastructure, internet of things (IoT), cyber-physical systems, and cybersecurity education.
Along with his position at Lewis University, he is a Professor with the University of Maryland Global Campus and a Senior Instructor for Norwich University. He more than 20 years of industry experience as a Programmer, Security & Technology Manager, Senior Security Engineer, and Security Architect for Chicago Title and Trust, Safeco Insurance, Home Run Inn Inc., WOW Cable Internet and Phone, Ulta, and Joliet Junior College. He has a comprehensive understanding of security risk management, disaster recovery, ethical hacking and networking technology. As well as being knowledgeable in industry regulations such as SOX and PCI; and security frameworks such as ISO 27000, Cybersecurity Framework Model and NIST standards. He has also been a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) since 2012.
